Pastors

Pastor Gordon and Denise Henke

Senior Pastor

Pastor Gordy has served as senior pastor at River of Life since 1996. His call to pastor came March 1994. The song “Ninety and Nine” came on the radio when he heard a Voice inside him ask, “Will you be the one to go after the one?” He knew exactly what that meant and still carries that mission. Over the years he has ministered in many capacities of the church including, deacon, trustee, teacher, elder, and youth minister. He believes passionately in community outreach and service. He has served on several advisory committees with the town of Middlebury, the Principal’s Advisory at Northridge for 8 years and on the Area Recovery Committee during the economic downturn. He has served as treasurer and currently chairman of the Middlebury Ministerial Association.  His wife Denise serves on the worship team, leads in the women’s ministries and prayer initiatives, and coordinates Wednesday evenings. Pastor Gordy and Denise have been married 36 years, and have three children. Two are married, one is in college.

Pastor Rick and Shari Lambright

Associate Pastor

Pastor Rick has served as associate pastor since 2005. He was as a mechanic most of his life until age 45, and believes it was all part of valuable training in working with people, as the only time he was called was when there was trouble! Now he finds a pastor’s labor much the same but more rewarding. He has a passion to teach, having taught youth, young adults, and a young marrieds class for over a decade along with his wife, Shari. Pastor Rick also leads the men’s ministries at River of Life, his heart is stirred to see men living uncommon lives as Men of God. In the community he serves on the board of directors at Servant of the Street, a men’s transitional home, and chairman of the board of directors for the Elkhart County Chaplaincy Program. At the Elkhart County jail he is an assistant chaplain and, also at the jail, helps distribute library books once a week. Shari is a leader in the women’s ministries and teaches children’s Sunday School. He and Shari have been married 30 years, have three children, all married.
