Gratitude

Ps 107:8-9 Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! 9 For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness. Greetings from the Lambright’s, I often hear people begin by saying “I know that my situation is nothing like yours”, after which they express difficult situation in their own life with apology. I realize that regardless of how difficult life may be for someone else, it offers no hope to deal w...

November Update

Give thanks unto the Lord for He is good. His love endures forever. Ps 136:1 This Thanksgiving was very different for Shari & I as we found ourselves thankful to have health, life, & each other. Not just thankful, but thankful to our God who holds our lives in His hands. We have committed ourselves to Him many times over in the past months and have faced many uncertainties. Through it all He has shown us His mighty power. When I lay awake at night and the enemy brings doubt & fear...

Thoughts from Shari

Next week marks 6 months since we received the news of Rick being diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. MM is a type of blood cancer that affects the plasma cells. The plasma cells then produce abnormal proteins (M proteins) which cause tumors, damage the kidneys and impair the immune system. April 27, 2016 will be a day we never forget. Although we hope with time the pain and devastation of that first week will lighten. That we will remember how God was with us from the moment we heard the word canc...

Confident Expectation

I find it most difficult to speak or express what is on my heart and in my mind. I have found myself in a place of unexplainable emotions & even to set down to express my thoughts seems foolish. My vocabulary is not adequate to describe what Shari & I have experienced over the past months but especially the past few days.   On Tuesday we spoke with the oncologist to get the report on the previous weeks bone marrow test. Dr Jin said my cancer count was at 0.34% & in April it was 50...

The Eyes of the Lord

2 Chr 16:9  For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. It’s been nearly 16 years since I first became acquainted with the concept that the Lord has eyes for me. I was preparing for a men’s event & discovered this verse while reading. I learned something new that day. To think that He would actually seek me out to demonstrate His desire to show me His provision & strengthen me. This was new to me. When I came across ...

Alive from the dead as instruments of righteousness

Romans 6:13-14 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. I had the privilege of making a visit to the Elkhart Co Jail this week. It is always a highlight for me. For each time I visit, I gain some type of new insight or understanding. I know many statistics ...

By this All Will Know!

John 13:34-35 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” Seems to me that Jesus had an idea that was unconventional. In His humility He chose ways that were not only unpopular, but also powerfully true. When I think of ways to prove to the world who the Christ was & is I think of demonstrations of power. I think of thunder & light...

Finish Well

Ecc 7:8 The end of a thing is better than its beginning; This week I celebrated my 56th birthday. I find myself thinking a little differently about a birthday this year as I have evaluated the many things that have taken place over the past years. Many of the events in my life were of little meaning. I reflected on the achievements that I have made and the failures as well. I have thought about the things I acquired and their value whether little or great. Some possessions that were meaningfu...

And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith

1 John 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.   I am not one given to use Christian jargon, and am mindful that my words must mean something. I find myself speaking about what the Lord is doing in my life and in my physical man more and more each day. I recently spoke with a man who was part of a group of bicycle riders. In conversation he asked if I ride, I responded that I did in the past but due to the can...

I will Say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress”.

Ps 91 has been my inspiration this week, even when it seemed difficult to embrace it as truth. To say that He is my refuge & my fortress on most days was attainable & yet it was difficult to stand in faith. At times I found myself struggling to pick up and move forward. As much as I wanted to find "normal" again, between fatigue, nausea, & doctor visits,  "normal" eluded me often. I found myself feeling well enough to schedule a few appointments but then often would run out of steam....
