1 John 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
I am not one given to use Christian jargon, and am mindful that my words must mean something. I find myself speaking about what the Lord is doing in my life and in my physical man more and more each day. I recently spoke with a man who was part of a group of bicycle riders. In conversation he asked if I ride, I responded that I did in the past but due to the cancer I was unable to ride much. He responded with a customary “sorry”. I said its ok, the Lord has much for me to do so I am not going anywhere soon.
As the words came from my mouth I realized my faith has grown in the past months and what may have admittedly begun in fear has now become faith. I am so grateful for medicine, for doctors & nurses, for facilities such as Elkhart Clinic and hospital. I am thankful that I have otherwise been healthy. In the midst of all of this, I am reminded that my God doesn’t need these advantages to do the miraculous. By faith I choose to believe in the things He has spoke to me through His written Word and by Spirit.
I would like to tell everyone that my body has better adjusted to the medicine I am taking but I must say the we feel the Lord is healing me day by day. I have not had mouth sores & food tastes much better in recent days. In fact I have gained a little too much weight as my appetite is much better and food tastes far better than before. My energy level is better and I have more good days than bad.
We had decided due to several factors not to do a stem cell induction at this time and ever since making that decision we have had a peace that this is the right direction. I am continuing with chemo and have treatments through the month of August and will then be at the 4 month mark of treatments. At the end of the 4th month they will do a bone morrow test again by drilling a hole in my hip to see what progress has been made. Shari & I are believing they will be amazed and so will we. The plan would be to then continue for 4 more months of treatment to put the cancer into full remission.
We continue to strive to eat a better diet & finding what works and what doesn’t. Many have contributed things like fresh garden veggies, home made yogurt, whole milk which we use for making kefir, some have helped by mowing our yard every week, others did some major landscaping, and some have helped with our financial needs. We are also grateful for the many cards with words of encouragement. Again our words seem so inadequate to express our gratitude, but its all we have right now. So we would like to thank each and everyone for loving us through your kind deeds, supportive words, & endless prayers. We are thankful for the body of Christ.
Ph 1:3-6 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, 4 always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, 5 for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.
